This year we are kicking off E3 with a
company that have never had an conference before. How will it go?
Let's find out.
They open their show in just the right
way, with the First-person-shooter of all First-person-shooters,
namely Doom. I have played all the Doom games, from the first one in
1993 until now and Doom has never looked better. It was gore, bloody
and all the weapons you remember are there, all the way from the
shotgun till the chainsaw. The lighting, explosions and the demons
look great. They also give us a robust map editor so there are going
to an insane amount of player made maps in this game. This helps the
game to live for a long long time. Can't wait to play both the single
player and the multiplayer.
We got to see Battlecry. In my opinion
it just looks like some kind of Team Fortess clone. Hopefully i'm
wrong but my interest for this game is almost non existing.
Next up we got to see Dishonored 2.
Dishonored 1 was a smash hit that no one saw coming, and that made
people amped for a sequel and it's finally here. They showed of their
character Emily Kaldwin and her powers. We got to see some really
cool scenes in a hallway where the hallway changed in a mechanical
kind of way. In all honesty, the game looked very impressive and i
can't wait too see more.
They talked a little about The elder
scrolls online and an Elder scrolls card game. Sorry to say but i got
nothing to say about that. I did not like their MMO and I’m not a
fan of card games. Sorry.
They have also made an app. A game
where you are the man in charge in a fallout shelter. It's a cute
little app and it's free but it's only for iOS. Not much to say about
it. It's a mobile game.
Now there was only the big one left.
Fallout 4 made the internet go crazy when they showed us the trailer
a little earlier and now we were going to get some info and some info
we got. We actually got a lot of info. They show character creation,
building, weapons, dog companion and so on. They really gave the
people what they wanted and the crowd loved it. Or so it seemed at
least. They gave a lot and that is always great. They even gave us a
release date, and not one in two years. It's coming out November 10,
2015. This is going to be one of the most sold games of the year, no
doubt in my mind.
So that was Bethesda, their first
conference. As a first conference it was fantastic. I don't think
they could have had a better first conference than this. As a
conference overall it was good. Not fantastic, but good. I would have
liked to have seen a little more games but what could that have been?
I wonder if they are going to have a conference next year. Solid
start to E3.
