Ubisoft have had a rough
couple of years now so let's see if they can get us excited for
Ubisoft games again.
They start of the show
with a very good trailer for a sequel of my game of the year of 2014,
South Park The Fractured But Whole. I loved South Park The Stick of
Truth and i did not expect to see anything of an sequel so fast. They
showed us that the boys of South Park are role-playing
superhero-characters now instead of role-playing Fantasy-characters
and as you can see by the title it still got he same humor. Hopefully
they will just improve on the old one and not break the new one. I'm
sure it's going to be great though, and what a way to start the show.
Next up we got to see For
Honor and yes they showed gameplay. It's not often you get to see
Samurais face of against Vikings but if you have wanted to see that
this game got it. The best way to describe this game is that it's a
better version of Chivalry. This looks superior in every way though.
It looks really intense and i can't wait to try it. Who doesn't want
to be a viking, you know.
Now they showed us The
Crew: Wild Run. I think it's an expansion maybe. Anyway, i don't know
how many people who play The Crew, i don't play it, but for all you
guys who play it i think this will be great. I don't know how much
you have gotten in the way of DLC but this looks like it got some
content in it.
Now we get a cinematic
trailer for Trials Fusion: Awesome Level Max. I love the Trials games
but i hate this cinematic. I don't know how much this cinematic has
to do with the game but it's obvious that this is just made too look
silly. It got unicorns spitting fire and rainbows and so on. It's
like it's trying to me a meme. It felt forced and i think footage of
the game would be a lot better.
Next up they showed off
Tom Clancy's The Division, maybe the most anticipated game of E3. We
have seen a lot of this before but it still looks great. This time
they showed us one player screwing over his team and that's kinda
refreshing. It's not often we get to see that side of a game.
Everyone usually are like «come on guys, work together, together we
are strong» and so on. The game is set to release March 8, 2016 and
i can't wait. Just remember, never trust me in this game.
Next they showed off the
next chapter in their Anno series, Anno 2205. I don't have much to
say about this. I don't play Anno games but i have heard that they
are great. Are you a fan this is probably awesome. It still looks
like Anno though.
Now they are starting to
slow down. They are showing us Just Dance 2016 and that's ok. It's a
game that some people love and it deserves to be shown off. What i
did not need was a Jason Derulo coming on to the stage to sing. This
is really not what E3 is about. Show off the game but no concerts
please.
Next up we are talking
about another highly anticipated game, Rainbow Six: Siege. I have
talked about the alpha for this game in an earlier post so check out
that if you are interested. So first of, one of the actors for the
game came to the stage to talk about the game. Yeah, that's kinda
cool and all but it's not really what we want. This show is about
showing games, tech and advancement in graphics and so on. If you are
going to talk to anybody about the game it should be the people
making the game, not the actors. They showed off a new level and a
new gamemode. A gamemode where you play co-op against AI to complete
an objective. This is great, more games should have modes where you
can just relax with your friends and shoot some bad guys. This is
shaping up to be a great game.
Next up they showed us
Trackmania Turbo, and again they showed us gameplay. It's almost like
they know that gameplay is what they need to show. Trackmania still
looks as fun and crazy as it always has. It's going to be fantastic
and frustrating to play and the level editor looks easy to use which
means there are going to be a lot of custom made tracks by players. I
can't wait.
Now we get what we all
knew was coming and that is Assassins Creed Syndicate. I like the era
it's set in now but what scares me is the fact that it's Assassins
Creed. There are a lot of these games and the last one was really
broken. I don't know if i will play it or not but right now I'm not
very excited. I feel like they should take a year off and make sure
it's a fantastic game instead of releasing one every year where some
of the are really broken. I won't buy this until i see some reviews
of it. Very skeptical.
Now we are at the last
game of the conference. That's always a big reveal and i don't know
how it's never leaked. Anyway, we got a really great cinematic with
some elements of what looked like gameplay but i can't be sure about
that. The game was Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands. The game looks
fantastic, what we saw off it anyway. I'm a huge fan of the earlier
Ghost Recon games to, so this was a really nice surprise. I need to
see more of it before i say anything about if I'm going to get it or
not but it really looks great. And i know that it's 4 player co-op
which is always a big plus in my book.
So that was Ubisofts E3
conference and it wasn't that bad. I think they might be recovering
from the last year of problems. The two things that were negative for
me was the DLC to Trials. They showed nothing about the game and
that's not good enough. Next up was the live performance from Jason
Derulo. I don't watch E3 for the music. The big winners from this
conference for me was South Park The Fractured But Whole and of
course Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands. A really solid conference.
Good job Ubisoft.
