The time has come to Sony,
they have the momentum of the last two E3s where they was the best
conference. Can they keep the good news coming?
Sony opens their
conference in a huge way with showing off what have been MIA for a
couple of years, The Last Guardian. Not only do they show it to us,
they gave us gameplay. This was probably the moment a lot of people
had been looking forward too. Personally i don't think i want to play
it but I'm only one man. It looks like the rest of the world wants it
so starting with showing off something everyone has been waiting for
and showing gameplay was a fantastic way to start of their E3
conference. They also said that it's coming in 2016.
Next Guerrilla Games came
out and announced their new game Horizon Zero Dawn. First thing that
they did right was to give us gameplay. Giving gameplay give us so
much more than just an cinematic. It's going to be an action
role-playing game set in the future, about 1000 years in the future.
The world is dominated by robotic creatures. You need to hunt these
robots for resources that you need to survive. They also have
promised that there will not be loading screens in the game. This
game came like a total surprise on me and it looks great. I think a
lot of people got excited by this. Again, smart to show gameplay. The
game looks beautiful. The only thing i don't like is the Zero Dawn
part of the name.
Now they showed us Hitman.
I'm really excited for a new Hitman. I still remember playing the
first one and having a great time. Hopeful it's a little more
stealthier than the last one in the series. While it's great to see
Agent 47 again this was just a cinematic so i really don't know how
anything works or how it looks. Hopes are high.
Next they show us Street
Fighter 5, the next game in the fantastic fighting series. They show
us a montage of move by different characters. Everything feels really
familiar. I don't know what they have done for this one but what i
can say is that the game look fantastic, very crisp graphics. Another
thing to remember is that Street Fighter 5 is not coming to Xbox One.
Looks great and it's the best fighting game out there in my opinion.
Next up Hello Games comes
to the stage to show off some more of their highly anticipated game
No Man's Sky. I understand why people are hyped for this game but I'm
not. I don't know why I'm not hyped for it. Maybe it's the graphics
or the fact that it's so huge that you can't 100% it. I don't know.
But again, they showed us gameplay and that's great. I think a lot of
people was pleased with what they saw. No release date yet but it's
better that they do it right than fast.
Now they showed off a game
called Dreams. I have no idea what this game is, even after i just
saw it. It looks crazy but i don't get what the draw of the game is.
I'll have to wait for more information on the game before i can even
talk about it.
Next we got to see
Firewatch. The game is set in the Wyoming wilderness. You only form
of communication is a walkie-talkie that goes to his supervisor
Delilah. While out on a patrol someone ransacks your tower and you
will now explore and uncover clues to find out whats going on. It
looks like a great game. I will definitively play this when i comes
out some time this year. And yes, they showed us gameplay. It looks
like a great experience.
Next up is Destiny The
Taken King, a expansion to Destiny. First off i don't think they
showed us any gameplay and that makes me kinda sad. Also i will
probably not play this title. I just don't understand why they
haven't put it on PC. It's a perfect fit for Destiny. Anyway, looks
like an ok expansion but since i don't play the game i really don't
now if they give enough with this. Hopefully for Destiny fans this
will be great. It will be released 09.15.15.
Now they showed off a
little from Assassins Creed Syndicate. I already talked about
Assassins Creed Syndicate in my E3 Ubisoft post so i will not talk
about it here.
Next up was World of Final
Fantasy. I have no idea what's going on in this game. I have never
been very big on Final Fantasy games and i don't think this will be
my big Final Fantasy game. I guess there is an audience for this
somewhere but it's not where i am. I hope it's going to be a hit
though.
Suddenly Sony decide that
they did not need a roof anymore since they were going to blow it
off. They showed us a cinematic of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The crowd
went crazy, the internet almost broke, pigs where flying. It was
crazy. Ok, so i never played Final Fantasy 7 so i had not that
reaction but the rest of the people i was with went crazy. We did not
get to see much from the game, as i said it was a cinematic. But what
they showed looked great and a lot of people recognized the places
that they showed off. This was huge of Sony and it was the right
thing to do. People have been asking for this for a really long time.
Good job Sony.
Devolver Digital got a
video showing that they are coming with 4 games to the Playstation 4.
These games are Ronin, Eitr, Mother Russia Bleeds and Crossing Souls.
The games kinda blended together and that's probably not what you
want. There was a lot of fighting and blood but i can't tell you much
more than that. It was a quick video but it's great to have more
games.
Next up Sony dropped
another bomb, and that is that they want to make a Shenmue 3. I
thought to myself that this is great but I'm not so sure. They
decided to get the people to pay for the development of the game
through kickstarter. First off, i don't think that this is right
because the game would sell good anyway, why use kickstarter?.
Secondly, is this going to be the thing now. Big game makers go to
kickstarter instead of doing things the old fashion way. I always
thought of kickstarter a place to help indi developer and small
people so they might get out their game. I really don't know what to
feel about this. What is great about this is that we get Shenmue 3,
that again made the roof fly off. I'm excited to follow the
development of this one.
Next up they showed a
pretty intense part from Batman: Arkham Knight. I think that this
part, just a couple of missions are Playstation exclusive. The rest
of the platforms will probably get it later though. I really dislike
that they do things like this. It's ok with cosmetics and things like
that but this is part of the game. Why shouldn't all gamers get to
play it? On another hand the gameplay and graphics looked fantastic.
I can't wait to play Batman: Arkham Knight. Good it's coming out
soon.
Now there is some talking
about VR but since i haven't tried Morpheus or any of the other VR
devices yet i don't have anything to say about this, except that i
really need to try one of them soon.
Next up they are showing
us Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. As we saw earlier no one talked about
Call of Duty at Microsofts conference. This is the reason why, now
it's the Playstation that got a deal with them. So what did they
show. Usually we see a little part of the story played in front of
us. This time we got a cut-scene, the a 4 player co-op mission that
looks like it's in the story. I don't know if it is in the story but
it looked like it. And if that wasn't enough they showed us a video
montage of the multiplayer. They gave us a lot of what we want to see
from a Call of Duty announcement.
Now they bring us more
from Disney Infinity. I must admit that i did not pay much attention
under this segment. I really don't care about Infinity. A lot of
people care about it so check for someone else to tell you about
that.
Next up they got DICE onto
the stage to talk some more about Star Wars Battlefront. This time
they showed off a co-op mode with waves of enemies. The game still
looks great and I'm so pumped for this one.
Now they give us the
latest game from Naughty Dog, Uncharted 4 A Thief's End. I love all
the Uncharted games. The are fantastic and everyone should play them,
that's my honest opinion. We got to see a good chunk of gameplay. You
can see that almost everything in the world reacts when it's shot. It
maybe sound a little weird but it's really impressive when you see
it. We get a long car-chase with all the humor and action that the
series are known for. It looked really fantastic. I just can't wait.
This is a system seller for me. Words do not do this game justice,
you need to see the video for yourself.
Sony gives us more or less
everything we wanted for the third year in a row. The only thing
missing from this conference was anything about Final Fantasy 15.
There is a demo out so maybe they feel that that's enough for now.
Anyway, a fantastic conference again. What can Microsoft do to get
the thunder back from Sony. Microsoft has even given up Call of Duty
to them now. A lot of great games and a great pace to the whole
conference, almost no time spent on anything but games.
