Battlefield Hardline is
coming in March and they have just had their open beta test. In the
beta there where 3 modes to choose from, regular conquest that is the
same as it always have been, Heist that is more like get the package
and drop it of at location X and Hotwire have conquest-marked cars
that you drive around to bleed the other teams tickets. Hotwire is
easily the funnest and fastest of the modes and a good change of pace
from the standard of conquest
There are three maps, Bank
Job, Downtown and Dust Bowl and they all have the mechanic
Levolution. There are bollards to raise and/or lower, cranes to be
brought down and so on. Nothing really new but it's still a neat
mechanic. The maps are not bad but not great, hopefully there will be
some better maps at launch.
The change of setting from
hardcore military to cops and robbers works a lot better then it
should. I thought it sounded stupid when i first heard about it but
it really works great. Especially the criminals and their filthy
comments.
Over to the stuff that i
don't like. First of all, we still haven't got the destruction feel
you got from Battlefield Bad Company 2. In Battlefield Bad Company 2
you could almost level every building on the map. After a match the
map would look completely different, in a cool way and i miss it. My
biggest problem is the same problem i had with Battlefield 3 and
Battlefield 4 and that is Battlelog. Can't they have made the server
select inside the game like in Battlefield Bad Company 2? Battlelog
is nice for tracking stats and all that but server selecting should
be inside the game. I haven't found a way to squad up before joining
a game. It may be there but i haven't found it, so if it isn't there
they need to get that option.
This still feel like
Battlefield 4 so to make it feel like something more than a
downloadable content/expansion they need to add a lot of content,
that or they need to drop the price significantly.
TL;DR
New mode is fun, the new
setting is not bad. Still using battlelog/browser to find server. Not
enough destructibility. It still feels like Battlefield 4. Going to
need a lot of content or a better price to make it worth it. So
unless you are a hardcore Battlefield fan wait for a sale. It's more
of the same again.
