Chan Ku-kai teams up with
the military police force's Interpol director Jessica Yang to stop
Chinese drug smugglers. To infiltrate the smugglers Chan Ku-kai poses
as a petty criminal to help Panther, one of the smugglers, who are
being held in an Chinese prison labor camp to gain his trust.
A lot of the same problems
that are in the two predecessors are present in this one two,
especially the weird humor pieces. A couple of new things happens to,
like that they got a new director(this is the first one not directed
by Jackie Chan). We also have the wonderful Michelle Yeoh as Jessica
Yang. This movie also have the last appearance of Chan's girlfriend,
May. I would have removed her from the story earlier i think. She is
not useful at all. I don't feel like her character fit into the
movies and she was there only for the awkward humor. The story of the
movie is not quite as good as in the two predecessor but the action
is still great. What is really sad is that the last fight doesn't
feel as great as in previous movies.
TL;DR
The weakest entry in the
Police Story series up until now. Still some awkward humor. Jackie
Chan is still good and Michelle Yeoh is great. Good action and
fights. A little more mainstream feeling on the whole movie. It is
still in Cantonese. I don't think the average movie-watcher would
like this. This movie is one of those you can skip and don't feel bad
about it.
